Inspired by a true story, 17 year old Rita breaks the code of silence she has grown up with and gives evidence to an anti-Mafia judge. She is rejected by her mother, and almost everyone else she’s ever known, and must go into hiding to save her life. The Sicilian Girl is a powerful story of an ultra-violent world and the courage of one young woman against all odds.

Rhonda Kite a guest speaker at ATAMIRA 2009

WIFT member Rhonda Kite of Kiwa Films speaks on Saturday 4 July at the National Māori Innovation Summit, as part of Atamira 2009.

Atamira – Maori in the City, is a biennial expo celebrating Maori creativity and enterprise which will be held on 3-5 July at ASB Showgrounds, Auckland. Amid the three day programme oriented at family fun, the business side of the event will feature some of the big names in today’s creative world. Rhonda Kite invented VoiceQ, an award-winning system for dubbing films and TV programmes that has been used by Hollywood studios including 20th Century Fox for the Tom Cruise movie “Valkyrie”.

WIFT member and NZFC head of Sales & Marketing has been appointed as Screen Australia’s new head of Marketing and Industry Development. Kathleen has been at the NZFC since 2001. She takes up her role on 1 September 2009.
